Clintons Crisps are a family run business based in Skerries, Co. Dublin. We were engaged to work on a rebrand with Clintons Crisps through the Bord Bia insights team. With growing listings across the country, the aim of the rebrand was to tell the story of the Clintons family and the authentic character of these crisps!
The Clintons have been farming potatoes on their family farm in Skerries for over seven generations since the 1700’s. Equipped with the best quality spuds, Brothers Martin and Sean Clinton combined their farming and snack industry knowledge, to bring to market a truly unique crisp. The new design needed to reflect this and needed to stand out in a pretty crowded category.
The new design depicts a slightly surreal farm landscape with nostalgic black and white photography all dotted around the central hero of the pack, the spud and its bi-product, the “Irish Farm Grown Crisp”. This combination of different design elements, from the hand picking the crisp from the identity, to the unusual scaling of elements gives the design an urban appeal.
The bold blocks of colour and chunky modern fonts help to give the brand a very distinct personality, just like the “down to earth delicious crisps” that are cooked in 100% rapeseed oil. This gives them their distinctive crispy crunch and as well as being Gluten free and Vegan friendly, they truly are a crisp of real character!
The central illustration depicts how these potatoes are ‘Born crisp’ – sown and grown on the family farm in Skerries, it was these potatoes destiny to become the delicious Clintons crisps they are today!
The strong colours and punchy design give the range shelf stand out, along with supporting photography that compliments each flavour helps to give each pack its own personality. We look forward to more to come from Clintons crisps!
