The Boann Distillery lies in the heartlands of Drogheda and the Boyne Valley. It takes its name from the Irish goddess Boann, who according to folklore, created the river Boyne and the surrounding valley. The distillery includes a craft brewery, whiskey distillery, taproom and visitor centre.
The project is the brainchild of long-time drinks industry expert, Pat Cooney who is originally from Drogheda himself. This created a synergy between the Cooney family story and the heritage of the Boyne Valley. The area offers such a treasure trove of folklore, flora and fauna, it has easily inspired the Boann Distillery and allowed for the natural growth of future brands—their range of craft beers titled Boyne Brewhouse for example. The local flora will eventually be added to their gin botanicals, organically infusing their products with the waters and wealth of the local area.
This local history also inspires the brand’s visual style, it’s copper tones suggesting copper stills and ancient celtic metals. We created a brand that has history, heritage and gravitas.
